Story Timeline

The story of Cassia Gold so far — a fictional timeline of the character’s life in the world of the Verge.

1. Age 8 — The dockside kid. Grows up in Port Meridian running errands for map-sellers; learns to read charts before she can spell “cartography.”
2. Age 12 — The blank page. Her father, cartographer Tomas Gold, sails after Khetra the Gilded and never returns. His journal comes home; its last page is half-finished.
3. Age 16 — Apprentice. Taken on by the Meridian Society as a surveyor’s apprentice. Steals — borrows — her father’s brass compass back from the Society vault.
4. Age 21 — First solo find. Recovers the Brass Astrolabe of Cape Wren from a smugglers’ wreck. Director Imogen Pell funds her first chartered expedition.
5. Age 26 — The crew forms. Bram Tally signs on as cartographer; Sister Ilya as archivist; Rook Fen — then fourteen — talks her way aboard as guide.
6. Age 29 — Khetra the Gilded. The expedition that made her famous: diving the drowned boulevards of the sunken city. Read the expedition.
7. Age 31 — The Clockwork Sanctum. A ticking vault inside a Frostreach mountain — and a race with Dash Corvane to reach it first. Read the expedition.
8. Age 33 — The Whispering Vault. Beneath the Sunscarred Dunes, a tomb that hums — and a choice about what should stay buried. Read the expedition.
9. Age 34 — now — The Hollow Crown. Her next expedition: a frozen ruin in the deep Frostreach that the old charts mark only with a crown and a warning. The crew is packing.
