Story Timeline
The complete (invented) saga, in order. Dates are story-dates from the character lore — this timeline documents fiction, not history.
The first shift
Camaleo hatches during a rainstorm on a mid-color leaf, already shifting: green, teal, startled violet. First word, in color: hello, in dawn-gold.
The wandering years
It learns the color language from the fireflies, stillness from Old Bark, and the tongue-catch from the river. Collects morning #1.
The Night of a Thousand Skins
A thousand skins in a thousand minutes, counted by fireflies. Dawn verdict: “Every one of them was me.” Full story.
The Mimic’s Choice
A young shifter asks to disappear; Camaleo teaches it to be seen instead. The first voluntary bright-red day becomes a holiday. Full story.
The Great Unblending
Gray fog mutes the canopy. Camaleo sits still for three days until the fog gets bored and leaves. Stillness, again, is the answer.
Kaleidoscope Season
The grove blooms in impossible patterns; Camaleo keeps the peace between the flowers and the light. Full story.
Keeper of the grove
Camaleo keeps the Kaleidoscope Grove by noticing it: greeting leaves, settling color disputes, sitting where the light lands best. The saga continues — fictionally, in full color.
