The Color Language
A language with no words and perfect grammar — how the canopy says everything in color.
The basics
Shimmer-speak is fast, honest, and untranslatable — which is why this page translates it anyway, approximately. Leaf-green: content. Deep emerald: thinking. Teal: wait, watch this. Violet shimmer: pleased (Camaleo’s favorite weather). Dawn-gold: hello, always and only.
The diplomacy
Color is how the grove negotiates. Flowers state their positions in petals; Camaleo answers in slow gradients, acknowledging every shade before settling the matter. The great violet-vs.-more-violet debate of the last leaf-moot was resolved when Camaleo shifted through all nominated shades and the assembly voted for “all of them, in order.”
The manners
The first rule of shimmer-speak: shift toward your company. It’s not mimicry, it’s listening — “you call it camouflage, I call it manners.” The second rule: never flash alarm-red unless you mean it. Camaleo has meant it exactly once. The grove still doesn’t talk about what it saw.
