Seven feet of armor. The personality of a lighthouse: silent, steady, always on.

The armor doesn't do personality the way people do. It does presence. On the radio it is terse to the point of poetry — Relay has logged entire rescues in eleven words. In person it is economical: no wasted movement, no speeches, a habit of kneeling to be at a child's eye level that Wrench calls “its one tell.”
Traits, as observed
- Tireless. The longest logged shift is nineteen hours, floodline to dawn. It stood down only when Wrench threatened to lock the Gantry.
- Gentle with the small. Kids, cats, the elderly — the armor slows down, kneels, waits. Pip rides on its shoulder plate like a crow's nest.
- Allergic to cameras. It finishes the work and leaves before the press. The Wards respect this by photographing chalk stars instead.
- Ritualistic. The maintenance rites, the patrol order, the beacon placement — everything the same way, every time. Wrench says ritual is how it stays human under the plating.
What it wants vs. what it does
What it wants is unknowable — it has never said. What it does is the entire record: answer, arrive, lift, carry, mark, return. Ibarra's assessment, filed and never revised: “Intent unknown. Conduct exemplary.”
QUIET NIGHT. ARMOR'S GOT IT.
