The Macaronis World
A whole world, at island pace.
What is the Macaronis world?
The Macaronis world is the fictional home of the Vizlings app's pasta people — a warm, musical, slightly absurd world where everyone is some kind of pasta: penne, fusilli, rigatoni, farfalle, orzo, gnocchi, and more. It's the shared setting for Rasta Pasta, Whole Wheat Willie, Dash, and the rest of the Macaronis cast.
Al Dente — the capital
The capital city is Al Dente, named for the ideal state of being: firm, ready, never mushy. Its skyline is a pantry come to life — penne towers, fusilli spires, a stadium shaped like a colander. Rasta's view of it is from the shoreline, at sunset, which he maintains is the correct angle.
Neighborhoods (as Rasta knows them)
- Jerkwater Beach — Rasta's home turf. Boardwalk, skate rink, sound-system corners, bonfires. The city's collective exhale.
- The Harlem Quarter — jazz clubs and brownstone loaves; Willie's territory. Rasta's festival rival and brother.
- The Rolling Pin District — chrome diners and delivery corridors; Dash's racetrack.
- Penne Heights — the station district; where newcomers arrive. Rasta meets the lost ones and points them at the beach.
- Fusilli Flats — spiral streets, murals, buskers. Rasta's favorite place to get pleasantly lost.
- Rigatoni Row — theater marquees; Rasta played a "very serious venue" there once. He wore the tam. It went fine.
- The Sourdough Docks — flour barges and ferry horns; where the Orzo Isles ferries depart.
The Great Boil
Pasta-person legend says the world began with the Great Boil: a cosmic pot, a pinch of salt, and eight minutes that made everything. Rasta's take: "The universe cooked slow. Respect the recipe." His festival set on Boil anniversary is the beach's holiest hour.
Daily life
- Currency: the dough (naturally). Rasta is paid partly in dough, partly in fish, mostly in good vibes.
- Greetings: "Stay firm!" is standard. Rasta's version: "Bless up."
- Food: pasta people eat other foods — the beach specialties are jerk-spiced everything, grilled fish, and festival cookout plates. Eating pasta remains the one great taboo.
- Weather: mostly sunny with a chance of parmesan. Rain is "the sky seasoning the beach."
- Transport: the Fusilli Line, DashDash Couriers, the Starchlight Trolley — and the shoreline stroll, Rasta's preferred method, at island pace.
The vibe
The Macaronis world runs on three fuels: music, food, and showing up for each other — and Rasta is the music part, amplified. A city with a beach that never stops swaying is a city that's doing something right.
