Episode Guide
Every set's a story. These are the legendary ones.
Season highlights
1. "The First Sound-System Night"
A young Rasta takes the mic at a block party and holds the riddim for four hours. The beach gets its MC.
2. "The Blackout Set"
Power fails mid-festival. Rasta leads the whole beach in an unplugged singalong for two hours until the generators arrive. Fan-favorite.
3. "Boil & Bass" (team-up with Willie)
The summer festival finale: Rasta's riddim meets Willie's jazz, unrehearsed and unforgettable. Per ordinance, never recorded.
4. "The Cookout Jam"
The beach-wide cookout: everyone brings a plate, nobody brings a plan. The jam produces three legends and one marriage. Fan-favorite.
5. "Sound Clash: Static's Challenge"
DJ Static challenges Rasta to the annual clash with the loudest rig on the boardwalk. Rasta answers with harmony — literally. Static demands a rematch. The beach demands it annually.
6. "Vinyl & Tide"
A quiet episode: Rasta and Vinyl Vera restore a water-damaged record collection, one sleeve at a time, scoring the whole thing live. The city's gentlest hour of television.
7. "The Storm Set"
A storm rolls in mid-show. The crowd stays. Rasta plays to the thunder — call and response with the sky. Fisherman Fred calls it "the night the weather joined the band."
8. "One Love Finale"
Season closer: the whole beach, the whole city, one riddim. Rasta stops the music for the sunset — the crowd knows to be quiet — then drops the beat as the sun touches the water. Credits roll over swaying.
Running gags
- The mixer's "opinions" (it hums in specific keys when it disapproves)
- The three versions of the tam story (a fourth is rumored)
- Shelly starting dances the band then has to catch up to
- Dash arriving at full sprint, staying for exactly one song
