Fictional character. Everything below describes an invented person from the Vizlings app. None of it is real — it is a character bible, the way a show's writers keep one.

Appearance
Short fade, kept sharp by Big Tone every other Friday whether Jamal can pay or not (he usually can’t; the ledger of owed haircuts is a running joke). Black hoodie, open dark denim jacket, thin gold chain from his grandmother Ada, jeans with paint on the knees, sneakers retired from three marathons of courier work. The battered sketchbook is always in the left jacket pocket. Always.
Personality, in five sliders
- Optimism: maxed out, and he knows it’s annoying. “Somebody’s gotta believe it first.”
- Stubbornness: structural. Once Jamal decides, the decision has load-bearing walls.
- Loyalty: absolute. Cross the crew and find out.
- Patience: the one stat he’s grinding. Ambition wants it yesterday; Jamal is learning to want it right.
- Humor: dry, fast, self-deprecating. Roasts himself before anyone else can.
Skills
- Drawing: the foundation skill. Portraits, murals, logos, plans — if it can be sketched, it’s already half-built.
- City navigation: knows every shortcut, rooftop, and fire-escape route in the Docks. The bike helps.
- Fixing things: raised above a laundromat; can repair a dryer, a bike, or a bad day with equal confidence.
- Talking to rooms: community boards, landlords, skeptical grandmothers. Jamal can work a room like a mural — start with the outline, fill in the color.
Weaknesses (he’d want these listed)
- Says yes to everyone, then runs on four hours of sleep.
- Terrible at asking for help — the sketchbook has a page titled “people I owe apologies to.”
- Cannot resist a blank wall. The city fines him; he considers it a mural tax.
Habits & rituals
- The 6 a.m. loop: courier route doubles as a walking survey of the city — which walls are blank, which shops are struggling, who needs a flyer designed.
- Sketchbook rule: every plan gets drawn before it’s spoken. “If I can’t draw it, I don’t understand it yet.”
- Friday cuts: Big Tone’s chair, second seat from the window. Non-negotiable.
- Rooftop minutes: ten minutes on the laundromat roof at night, looking at the skyline, redrawing the day.
The five sketchbook rules
Taped inside the front cover, in fading marker:
- The grind is the gift.
- Draw it before you say it.
- Nobody’s coming — that’s good news. It means it’s yours.
- Leave every wall better than you found it.
- Crown up. Head high. Keep walking.
