Jamal Carter is twenty-four, five-foot-eleven of forward motion, and the most stubborn optimist in Neon Borough. By day he rides a battered courier bike for Quickline Deliveries. By every other hour he is building the thing he calls The Upstairs — a community design studio where kids from the Docks learn to draw their way out of nowhere.
His app card says it in four words: “Ambition walking city streets.” This site is the long version of that sentence.

The short version
Jamal grew up above his grandmother’s laundromat on Pier 9 in the Docks. He learned three things early: how to fix anything with a paperclip, how to stretch a dollar into a week, and how to draw. The drawing became a plan. The plan became The Upstairs. The Upstairs became everything.
He has no superpowers. His power is showing up — at 6 a.m. for the courier shift, at midnight for the mural wall, at every community board meeting the Gray Suits hoped nobody would attend.
