The Content Calendar
Consistency beats intensity. A calendar is how you make consistency automatic.
Why a calendar
Motivation is weather; a calendar is climate. Creators who post “when inspired” post in bursts and vanish for months. Creators with a calendar post through uninspired weeks — and uninspired weeks are most weeks. The calendar also kills the daily what do I post panic, which is where half of creator burnout starts.
The three pillars
Pick three content pillars — the three topics you’ll rotate between. Ivy’s example pillars (for a confidence creator):
- Teach — one drill, one concept, one reframe (educational).
- Show — behind the scenes, day in the life, process (connection).
- Cheer — hype, encouragement, community wins (energy).
Every idea must fit a pillar. Ideas that don’t fit aren’t bad — they’re for someone else’s calendar.
The weekly rhythm (starter)
- 2 posts on your primary platform (quality over quantity at the start).
- 1 repost/adaptation to your secondary platform.
- 1 batch session (see below) — 90 minutes, once a week.
- 1 rest day with no posting, no analytics. Non-negotiable.
Scale up only when the current rhythm feels easy for a month straight.
Batching: the 90-minute session
Filming one video at a time means setting up, psyching up, and tearing down every day. Instead: one session, multiple videos. Same setup, same outfit (or a quick change), film 3–4 short videos back to back. Editing can also batch: rough-cut everything in one sitting. Batching cuts per-video overhead by more than half — it’s the closest thing to a free lunch in creating.
The idea capture habit
Ideas arrive in the shower, not at the desk. Keep one running note — phone app, paper, whatever — titled “content seeds.” Every stray idea goes in within 30 seconds. Weekly, pick the best three for the calendar. A creator with 100 seeds never faces a blank page; a creator relying on memory does, weekly.
Review monthly, not daily
Once a month, 30 minutes: which pillar performed best? Which video had the best retention? What did you enjoy making? Adjust next month’s ratio toward the overlap of performs and enjoyable. Daily analytics-checking is anxiety with a dashboard; monthly review is strategy.
