The Wardens
Hand-picked, hard-tested, and hers — the officers who hold the fortress with her.
Lore companion
The Wardens are the Celestial Commander’s officers — the handful of people she chose herself, tested herself, and trusts with the fortress when she sleeps (which the crew insists she does, though no one has proof). Companion lore for the fictional persona.
How she picks them
She does not recruit. She notices. A signal officer who reroutes a storm warning through a dead beacon chain. A gunner who holds fire one second longer than doctrine says, because the shot wasn’t clean. The Commander collects such people the way other commanders collect commendations — quietly, and then all at once you are a Warden and your life is different.
Every Warden has a story that starts the same way: the inspection. Three questions, one long look, and the sentence “Report to the war room at dawn.”
What serving under her is like
- The standard is the standard. She holds herself to it first — first on the command deck, last to leave it.
- Mistakes are tuition. Paid once, in private, and never mentioned again. See Her command style.
- Loyalty is absolute and mutual. Cross a Warden and you answer to the Commander. The reverse is also true, and the Wardens know it.
- The nod. Her highest decoration is not a medal. It is a single nod across the war room table, and Wardens have been known to frame the memory.
The Warden’s oath (lore)
“The sky is wide, the watch is long, and the board is never still. I hold my post.”
Spoken at dawn on the observation deck, facing the sunrise. The Commander administers it herself, every time, no exceptions, no delegations.
A note on names
This guide does not invent named Wardens with backstories — the character’s world is the owner’s to populate. The Wardens remain a role in her story: the trusted few, defined by how she chose them and what she demands of them.
