Methodology
The rules this site follows — because a living public figure deserves an encyclopedia, not a campaign.
The subject is living
Bernie Sanders is a living public figure. This site therefore follows the strictest version of its editorial rules: neutral encyclopedia tone, no partisan framing, no endorsement, and no attack language. The site never uses its own voice to take a side in any debate around him.
What counts as a fact
- Primary sources first. Senate records, Congress.gov bill texts, the Congressional Record, and Sanders’s own office materials are preferred for anything consequential.
- Reputable reporting second. Major news organizations and established analytical outlets for events, figures, and quotations.
- Reference works for figures. Tabulations of votes and delegates are used from established reference pages, cross-checked where possible.
- Nothing invented. No dates, figures, quotations, or biographical details are created or estimated. If a fact cannot be sourced, it is omitted — and the omission is noted where it matters.
Quotations
Quotations are verbatim only, each cited with its venue and date. Lines Sanders has repeated at many events are labeled “recurring” rather than assigned to a single venue. Paraphrase is never presented as quotation.
Positions and criticism
Policy positions are presented as Sanders’s stated positions — never as this site’s claims about what is true. Criticism of those positions, and responses to that criticism, are attributed to their sources. The site does not adjudicate disputes; it reports that they exist and who holds them.
Uncertainty labels
Material that is reported but unconfirmed is flagged explicitly as reported-but-unconfirmed. Where sources disagree, the disagreement is described rather than resolved. Where the record is silent, the site says so.
Images
- See the image captions for credits and context. Illustrated character art is a dramatization.
- AI-generated art depicts only the stylized Vizlings-style animated character — never a photorealistic Sanders — and is always labeled “AI-generated dramatization art,” with the exact caption: “AI-generated dramatization art — not a historical depiction.”
- The famous January 2021 inauguration photograph is a copyrighted news photograph; this site describes it rather than reproducing it.
Updates
This site’s factual baseline is September 2026: Sanders’s Senate term, committee roles, and the status of his legislation are stated as of that date. Events after that date are not covered.
Source notes
The sources these rules are applied to are listed on the sources page. Any page on this site that violates these rules should be treated as a bug.
