Glossary

The words of the Grid, in plain language. Gaming terms are real; lore terms are fan inventions.

Mixed glossary. Standard gaming terms are real vocabulary; Neo-Kibou lore terms are invented for this guide about a fictional character. Lore terms are marked [lore]. See methodology.

GG

“Good game” — said after every set, win or lose. In Neo-Kibou, skipping it is the one true sin. Uri’s signature sign-off: “GG go next.”

Go next

The reset mentality: the last set is data, the next set is the point. Uri’s catchphrase, coaching philosophy, and life advice.

Game Grid [lore]

Neo-Kibou City’s universal leaderboard — every ranked game, every player, one ladder. Your tag is your name; your rank is your reputation.

Neon Crown [lore]

Neo-Kibou’s annual championship tournament — one game, one bracket, the whole city watching. The prize is a glowing headset and immortality on the arena facade.

Pixel-sight [lore]

Uri’s famous talent: reading boss and player patterns before the tells fully animate. Part training, part instinct; it fails against true randomness.

Undercade [lore]

The basement arcades beneath Neo-Kibou’s transit lines — old cabinets, cheap tokens, the best teachers in the city. Uri’s home turf.

Pixel Pals [lore]

Uri’s crew: Jax (combo theory), Momo (speedruns), Rook (coach). Four kids, one dream, infinite energy drinks, matching jackets.

NULL_KING [lore]

The undefeated, faceless top of the all-time Game Grid. No interviews, no losses on record, two years of unanswered challenges from Uri.

Token Slot Classic [lore]

The annual homecoming tournament in the Undercade — pros on the oldest cabinets, for love and for the kids watching from the token slots.

GG Gang [lore]

Uri’s stream community: hype, helpful, ruthless about clip titles. They run the fan wiki and the annual charity boss-rush.

Frame data

Real fighting-game term: the exact timing (in frames) of every move’s startup, active, and recovery. The Undercade rats taught Uri this before they learned her name.

Combo

A sequence of hits that connects into an unbroken string. Uri’s tournament sets are famous for conversions that look improvised and lab-tested — because they are both.

Okizeme

Real term (often “oki”): attacking an opponent as they rise from a knockdown. Part of Jax’s lab work and Uri’s corner pressure.

Pixel

The smallest unit of health, and of drama. “One pixel. Tournament point.” — Uri, frequently, at the best possible moment.

Tilt

Real term: emotional frustration that degrades play. Uri’s tilt window is famously ninety seconds — then the notebook, then “GG go next.”

Labbing

Real term: practicing in training mode — testing combos, setups, and punishes. Uri “labbed being ready” for NULL_KING.

Runback

A rematch, usually immediate. “Run it back” is both a challenge and a love language in Neo-Kibou.

Clutch

Real term: performing under maximum pressure. Uri’s clutch factor is a statistical anomaly the Grid’s analysts have given up explaining.

Speedrun

Completing a game as fast as possible — Momo’s discipline, and the Pixel Pals’ second-favorite stream content after Uri’s ranked grinds.

Plushie shelf [lore]

Uri’s stream shrine: one plushie per major boss defeated. Load-bearing furniture; do not touch during a run. The plushies are watching.

The notebook [lore]

Uri’s hundred-loss notebook — every defeat, the pattern missed, the opening for next time. Now multi-volume; the original still goes to finals “for the vibes.”

Corner cabinet [lore]

The Undercade cabinet where Uri fed her first token. Immortalized in the mural facing the Crown Arena; played yearly at the Classic.
