The Sock-Hop: Ruby's Signature Night

One night a Sunseason, under the Strawberry Star, the whole valley dances — and Ruby Bellamy headlines.
The night
When the Strawberry Star burns brightest, a dance floor rolls out under the open sky at Soda Fountain Square. Sock-hop rules: no shoes on the floor (hence the name), hair done, hearts open. The jukebox is wound, the lanterns are lit, and the moon — huge, pink, and allegedly strawberry-shaped — does the rest.
Ruby's role
Headliner by popular acclaim, five years running. Ruby opens with a solo, hosts the sundae-bar intermission ("dessert is destiny"), and closes with the Moonlight Duet alongside Dax Rind — picnic meets glamour, the valley's favorite finale.
The steps
- The Fountain Shuffle — the beginner's step; everyone learns it by moonrise.
- The Cherry Spin — Ruby's signature twirl; attempted by many, nailed by one.
- The Last-Dance Dip — the traditional closer; the moon times it, not the band.
