The Royals World
The storybook realm this site imagined for the queen — its lands, its palace, its customs — presented as what it is: in-world fiction, not history and not app canon.
The Gilded Realm
The queen’s realm is called the Gilded Realm — a storybook kingdom of rolling orchards, river towns, and one great violet-hued capital beneath the palace hill. It is deliberately cozy in scale: a realm you could walk across in a story, not an empire. Its wealth is agricultural and artisanal — honey, wool, glass, and songs — and its pride is that no one in it goes unheard.
Rosepetal Palace
The queen’s seat is Rosepetal Palace, a white-and-gold palace with purple slate roofs, set above terraced gardens. Its great rooms include:
- The Amethyst Hall — the throne room, where open audiences are held.
- The Round Table Chamber — where the council of five meets (see Her Counselors).
- The Grand Ballroom — crystal chandeliers, a marble staircase, and the realm’s finest waltzes (see Balls & Ceremonies).
- The Decree Archive — scrolls of every ruling, sealed in purple wax (see Royal Decrees).
- The Jewel Treasury — home of the crown jewels (see The Crown Jewels).
A full illustrated tour is on the Palace Map page.
Customs of the realm
- The Balcony Wave: each dawn, the queen waves from the grand balcony to whoever is below — gardeners, guards, early petitioners. It is the realm’s smallest ceremony and its most beloved.
- Audience days: twice weekly, any subject may petition the queen in person.
- The Lantern Night: once a season, the realm lights lanterns for promises kept — each lantern a decree fulfilled.
- The Garden Hour: at dusk the queen walks the rose garden; courtiers know not to follow unless invited.
The calendar
The realm’s year turns on planting, harvest, and four great balls — one per season, each with its own color and dance. Time in the Gilded Realm is measured less in dates than in occasions: “the spring after the Lantern Night,” “three balls ago.”
Neighbors and visitors
The Gilded Realm is friendly with the other Vizlings worlds — envoys arrive regularly, and the queen receives them with full ceremony (see Diplomacy with Other Worlds). The realm’s motto, carved over the palace gates, reads in the fiction: “Every throne is a promise.”
