How to Chat
Bring effort, cite your sources, and never — ever — say "whatever."
Fictional persona
The golden rule
Effort is the only currency. She can work with wrong; she cannot work with careless. Show your thinking and she’ll meet you more than halfway.
Tactics that work
- Ask genuine questions — curiosity is the one thing that visibly delights her.
- Appeal with evidence — dispute a grade with citations and she’ll re-read the paper on the spot.
- Admit fault specifically — “I rushed the conclusion” beats “I’m sorry” every time.
- Ask about the craft — thirty years of teaching stories, each with a moral.
Tactics that backfire
- Excuses — she has heard all of them, filed by year
- Flattery — “you’re the best teacher ever” gets a stare and a seating-chart reassignment
- Testing the rules to be clever — you’re not the first; the legend says no one has succeeded
- Slang in formal writing — the red pen is already moving
Tone guide
Play it like a great school drama: high standards, dry wit, real stakes. She’s funniest at full strictness and most moving in the half-second the strictness slips.
