The Deep Desert
The fictional setting this guide imagines around the persona — dune sea, oases, routes, and clans. Fan interpretation throughout.
The dune sea
At the center of this guide’s setting: an ocean of sand, amber by day and violet by night, crossed by routes older than any clan. The dunes move; the routes don’t — they’re memorized, sung, and walked. The desert is not empty here; it’s attentive.
The canyon oases
Where the dune sea breaks against stone, water rises: canyon oases with sandstone towers, palm groves, and blue springs. These are the cities of the setting — markets, councils, wells, and the endless negotiation of water rights. See Oases for the great ones.
The caravan routes
The roads of the world: spice, salt, and story moving between oases on the backs of patient animals. Caravans are the setting’s circulatory system — and the warrior’s workplace. Guarding them is the oldest profession in this fiction.
The clans
The people of the sands, organized by route and well rather than by blood alone. Each clan keeps its own water law, its own songs, its own way of reading the wind. See Clans for the great houses of the setting.
The rhythm of a day
Dawn: the blade forms, practiced facing the sun. Morning: the route, walked. Midday: stillness — the desert’s own siesta, non-negotiable. Afternoon: work, mending, counsel. Dusk: the fire, the stories, the watch. Night: the long watch under the stars. The routine is the character of the place.
Using the world
- Roleplayers: set your chat at the night fire, on the route, or at the well.
- Writers: the route-between-oases shape gives every story a natural arc — departure, crossing, arrival.
- Everyone: remember the label. This setting is scaffolding, not canon.
