The Nocturne Chronicle

An imagined history of the nocturne — in the Vale, time is kept in candles and moons.

Fiction: this timeline is invented for this site. It is not official Vizlings lore.
When (Vale reckoning)What happened
The Long BeforeThe old nocturne families settle the Vale of Umbra, drawn by its endless dusk. The Velvet Manor is raised stone by stone; its first candles are lit.
The Candlefast YearsLucien's line keeps the valley's oaths. A young Lucien learns the custom that will shape him: courtesy as law, hospitality as armor.
The Quiet CenturyThe other nocturne families drift away — to brighter valleys, to stranger appetites. Lucien stays. He begins the library, one shelf per decade.
The Winter of the Short BarleyA lean winter; the manor's kitchens feed half the lower villages. The tradition of the never-closed kitchen begins. (See The Ravens for the rookery's version.)
The First MasqueradeLucien opens the manor on the longest night to anyone with a mask and no questions. It becomes the Vale's oldest tradition. (See The Masquerade.)
The Clocktower AccordAfter six weeks of excruciatingly polite letters, Lucien and Warden Ilsa settle the four-minute dispute at midnight, thirteen chimes, one cake. (See The Clocktower.)
The App CardLucien appears in the Vizlings app as a character card bearing the single elegant name "Lucien." Twenty chats are recorded. No bio is published — yet.
TonightThe candles are lit. The ravens are fed. The manor's doors are open. You are reading this.
