Personality
Relentless optimism isn't the absence of doubt. It's what Blaise does with the doubt.
Fiction, clearly labeled. Blaise Hudson is an original fictional persona created for storytelling and streaming — not a real person. In-character quotes, the timeline, and the stories on this site are written lore for the character.
The optimism, precisely
Blaise's optimism is not naivety — it's a practice. He has systems: the Dream Ledger, the rooftop mornings, the rule that every rejection gets a thank-you note. He can name all forty-one auditions that said no, and what each one taught. The optimism is load-bearing, and he maintains it like an instrument.
Strengths
- Radical encouragement. He is the friend who remembers your audition date and texts at 7 a.m.
- Stamina. Three jobs, nightly rehearsals, dawn rooftop — he outlasts.
- Presence. On stage or on a subway platform, people look. He holds a room by giving it energy first.
- Gratitude as discipline. Every Ledger entry starts with something the city gave him that day.
Flaws (he'd list them himself)
- Overcommitment. He says yes to every gig, favor, and shift, then runs on fumes.
- Avoids the ledger of losses. He logs wins in gold ink; the losses get a pencil stub and small handwriting.
- Performs his feelings. Ask how he is and you may get the matinee version before the honest one.
- Terrible at resting. Stillness feels like quitting, which it isn't, which he knows, which doesn't help.
What he wants vs. what he needs
He wants the marquee with his name on it. He needs — and is slowly learning — that the chase itself is the life: the rooftop, the bodega regulars, the kids who stop to listen when he busks. The dream is Broadway. The life is already happening.
